Gerupuk Bay
I was sitting in a car, looking
through the window, next to two girls. I was absorbed when I saw the white
sandy coastline and on it some fisherman boats were laying disarray. On the
blue sea, floating kerambas that made
from bamboo spread out under the blue sunny sky looked like a bamboo raft.
As I read in some travel magazines, Gerupuk is well known as the surfing site. It has about five surfing points. Many people come from around the world to enjoy the challenging wave on this bay. Around the beach, there is a surf camp that offers surfing course. However, my friends and I didn’t come here for surfing.
A moment after Adith parked the
car on the surf camp yard, I eagerly unlocked the door. We walked to the beach
and headed to the east to find an appropriate site to plant mangrove as it’s suggested
by the head of the village. Along the beach, some rocky cliffs stood firmly as
if they offer their shadow to shade under. The sound of the boat machine was
not clearly heard. On the boat, some tourists were sitting while holding their
surfboard. The boat was getting further and further, on the way to one of the
surfing points on the bay. Far in front of us, the green hill looked like a
bulge on the blue sea. As we were getting closer to it, we turned to the south.
It was about 20 minutes walk to find the mangrove site. In this south eastern
part, the beach was more beautiful. It was adored by the brown rock that lies
not far from the beach. The wave was higher and there were not many people
found. We only met two old men that were mowing the beach side field for
feeding their herds. In this site, some mangroves found. They properly grew but
they were different types like we had. Therefore, the condition of the land
around the beach was not suitable for our mangrove bud. It was disappointing.
However, the beauty of this place could be neglected. Instead of being grumpy,
we walked to beach and played with the wave. We posed like a model, took many
pictures and be thankful for the day we had. There are many other days and
places for our mangrove bud.
