Tebing Beach

Most people prefer to go to white sandy beaches instead of going to the black one. In Lombok there is one of black beaches that now become one of favorite places especially for local tourists. This beach is called Tebing which literally means cliff. This cliff is part of Lombok Geopark area. Tebing beach area is also known as phyroclastic flow deposit. 

Tebing beach stretch around 200 meters away. This beach cannot be seen during high tide. However you can go up on the cliff and enjoy the landscape. When the tide is getting lower, you can walk on it. The water around the beach was not clear. It looked like chocolate milk that was created from the fallen sand from the cliff and the water. 

Around this beach I found only one warung—small shop under a tent. It sold some drinks and snacks. After walking around under the midday heat I bought water and sat for awhile, sipped my drink and wiped my sweat while staring at the clear horizon. The seller turned the music on. A man who sat next to me started bumping his hands against the wooden bench. After regaining my energy, I went back and realized that there was no parking man in this area. 

This beach is located in Jln. Raya Tanjung, Gangga, North Lombok. It stretches behind SMPN 2 Gangga. The main entrance is about 100 meters to the east from SMPN 2 Gangga. If you want to go up the hill, you have to take another entrance which is about 50 meters before the main entrance. From Mataram you can reach this beach by private car or motorbike. Public transportation is not always available. There are 2 routes to reach this place. First one is Mataram-Gunungsari-Pusuk-Tanjung-Gangga, this route is recommended for you who love under tropical forest. Meanwhile the second one is Mataram-Senggigi-Nipah-Tanjung-Gangga that will spoil you all the way with ocean and hills.
