"Tongkol Tepindang" Lombok Sides Dish
This weekend Lombok Page team walked through
along the west coast of Lombok around north Ampenan. In this area, there is one
of fishing villages called Kampoeng Bugis.
The villagers who live here are originally Bugese—a tribe from Makassar. However
none of them speaks Bugese, they speaks Sasak- the language of indigenous tribe
who inhabitant Lombok island.
In Lombok, this village is widely known as a
fishing village and the center of Tongkol. Tongkol or Eithynnus Affinis is typical sea
water fish. It is an important catch for Indonesian Fisherman. In Lombok, it is one
of famous fish served for daily meal. Men in this village mostly work as a
fisherman. While the woman runs home industry to make Tongkol Tepindang.
Tongkol tepindang is very easy to make. Females in this
village only add some salt and boil it in the giant pan. It takes less than 45
five minutes to make it. In the following day it will be brought to the market.
It costs IDR 3.000 or $ 3 to have one Tongkol Tepindang.
