5 Main Things to do in Gili Trawangan

Gili Trawangan or Gili T is a tiny island that lies on the north west of Lombok Island. As one of the most beautiful Gilis, it has benefited the islanders that now mostly work in tourism field. In the past, it was originally resided by Bugese-sasaks that mainly work as a fisherman. Since 2001, Trawangan has been rapidly developing. First thing you can do is water activities swimming or lying on the beach, sunbathing while reading your favorite book. Gili T has splendid white pristine beach and turquoise water. In the morning or in the afternoon you can walk to the middle of the island on which stands a small hill that host solar cell which becomes the main electric power. This hill is also become a favorite trek for trekking lover. From this hill, the other two gilis—Meno and Air—could be seen.

Another thing that you can do is circling the island on Cidomo—horse car— or on Bike. While circling the island you can stop in the turtle sanctuary.  This sanctuary is maintained by local people. There are two big glasses jars in it. In each jar, a group of turtle that have the same age is placed in it. If you are lucky, you can witness the turtle race when some turtles are sending to the sea.

Gili T is one of the best spot to see sunset. Furthermore the western part of this island is not as crowded as the east. Sitting on the beach capturing the yellow waxy sky will be a perfect ritual to close your day.

There are many ways to reach Gili T. First you can reach this from Bangsal. In Bangsal You can take public boat that cost you about IDR 18.000. It takes around 15-30 minutes.
