7 Amazing Unfamous Beaches in Lombok
Once I went to a super big book
store called Border—one of famous big stores in Brisbane—I saw couple of books
about one and half inches thick stood on the top of circular table. They were
put in nice arrange. On the cover there was a few people were planting paddies.
Far behind, verdant hills and clear blue sky played its role as a perfect
background. On the top of the cover was sharply written Bali and Lombok in
white. I grabbed the book and opened some pages. I read some information that I
already knew and smiled. I know Lombok is even more beautiful than what the
books told me. Here are 7 amazing unfamous beaches that can make you more than
just a tourist when you come to Lombok.
1. Are Goling
Are Goling is located about 1 km
from Mawun beach or about 20 minutes from Kuta Beach. Its name is secretly
drowned since it is located among famous places. However this place keep
amazing beauty that is sooner or later will be erupted. Are Goling combines
traditional life of Sasak and nature. If you walk along the beach, you will
find traditional house, small shops under paddy tents and you will be spoiled
by white sandy beach and the panorama of Gili Nusa in front. It would be better
if you come on May. During this month, the low tide can be happened twice a
week. This moment will give you more opportunity to see closely the villager
activities such as fishing, cells collecting and fish netting. Some villagers
even only use two long hooks to catch fish. Around this beach some hotel are
still in constructing process. Are
Goling is located at Desa Tampak, Pujut, central Lombok which is about 20
minutes from Kuta or 75 minutes from Mataram.
2. Pange
Pange is located in Desa Prabu,
Pujut, Central Lombok. Pange beach offers special feature that you cannot find
in any beaches in Lombok. Its white
cliff and its giant white stones create enchanted ambience. This beach can be
reached by walking about 500 m to the east from Are Goling beach and only
during low tide. During high tide you probably need to find fisherman boat that
can take you there. Right in front of the beach stand Gili Nusa covered in
green savanna. Makesure you come there on May.
3. Tebuaq
If you go to Pange Beach, you
will definitely pass this beach. Tebuaq consists of two coatal lines that are
separated by cliff and rocks. In the first coastal line you will find yellow
sandy beach with some cliff that look like mushroom. The first coastal line is
about 200 m. Meanwhile the second line mostly dominated by rocks. Some rocks
with almost the same size are disarray, the rocks is about bean-bag medium
size, seems like someone plant them in the beach. By Tebuaq you can also drop
in a traditional house that made from bamboo and use floored by soil.
4. Telawas
Once you step on your feet, you
will awe and cannot stop to push the button of your camera. Telawas is an
extremely unique beach. It is walled by verdant rocky hills. Some rocks look
like long bars, faces and various form and shapes in contemporary sculpture. The
only way to enter this place is from 3 meter beach. You need to walk and do rock
climbing along the beach. The length of Telawas coastal area is about 200-300
meters. Telawas is about 2 km from the main road. It is located at Mekarsari
Village, Penujaq, Central Lombok.
5. Munaq
Munaq is set in one line with
Telawas. White sand between rocky hills and adorned with the bush behind has
made this place as a total secret. You need to walk along the Telawas Beach to
reach it. Since the wave is mostly strong, you need to come during the midday.
In the high tide, the wave will bang against the rocks and blocks the path.
7. Lancing
If you think that you are not adventurous
enough, I think Lancing can be your perfect choice. Lancing is only 50 meters
from the main road. The beach stretches from east to west which is about
500-800 m length. Under the sunlight you can see the crystal clear ocean with
white yellow pepper sand. Swimming, picnic and snorkeling can be best hosted in
this area. Lancing is about one hour drive from Mataram or 30 minutes from
Kuta.
